Baptism
The symbol of life change for anyone that chooses to follow Jesus is baptism.
The symbol of life change for anyone that chooses
to follow Jesus is baptism.
As believers, baptism symbolizes our choice to participate in God's redemption process, both ours and other people's. It is a reminder that we can fight brokenness in our lives and is a symbol of the removal of the original brokenness of sin. It portrays Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection in a powerful and symbolic way.We are always excited to see someone take this step and blessed to be part of this great event in their life. It a mark that they have joined the Community of healing from brokenness.
This is what Bringing Hope through the Gospel truly looks like at Hope Community.
Why Be Baptized?
What does Baptism really mean?
Baptism illustrates two things:
- It illustrates my union with Christ in His Death, Burial, and Resurrection(Romans 6:4-5).
- It illustrates my new life as a Christian (2 Cor. 5:17).

What be baptized by immersion?
- Because Jesus was baptized that way (Matthew 3:16).
- Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion (Acts 8:38-39).
- The word "baptize" means to dip under water (Greek transliterated—baptizo).
- It best symbolizes a burial and resurrection.
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
